Blogging is now a very common phenomenon in this contemporary world. The size of blogosphere nowadays is very large. According to the Technorati’s State of the Blogosphere 2009 report, 72% of respondents in the survey says that they blog for fun, to express their personal feelings. Blogs are now more often being taken as personal online diaries for hobbyist. Besides that, there is also 15% of the respondents says they are the part-time blogger. They also clarifies that blogs are the sub-income of theirs. In another hand, there is also 9% of the respondents stated they are self-employed which means they blog for their own organization or business matter. Whereas 4% of Pros, the smallest cohort in the total claims that they do blogging as a full time job. Their main income comes from the blogs as well. In this case, these professional bloggers usually do blogging for corporate or well established companies. The blogosphere is now filled with different kinds of groups of bloggers and therefore it leads to a several trends are on the rise.
Blogs actually benefits the community a lot. According to Arianna Huffington, the tendency of sharing information and self-expression is the primary motivation of bloggers. Blog shares information on internet that connects the whole world, the information transferring is fast nowadays. It is a tool for personal reflection as well. It is like a global forum that allows you to publish personal views or expertise. A blog is also more likely to be known as “Citizen Journalism” as bloggers could comment about an issue in mainstream media but somehow it still provides a link back into the news coverage of issue in the mainstream media.
