Getting more e-book

The virtual books online, commonly known as e-books are now getting more and more common among society. E-books nowadays are even enhanced with multimedia and interactive features in it. Enhanced e-books are also referred to as rich media books, book mashups, enriched, hybrid and amplified books. (King, 2010) In addition to that, e-book does audio, video and color photo slideshows, news feeds, illustrations and background materials. E-books are now being accepted among people especially students. However, there’s always been a hard copy in the market. (Pirillo, 2007) E-books are even being publicized with the introducing of Apple, ipad in April this year. E-books could be found in ipad and the portability of ipad has made e-books can be accessed even more easily. Books are bundled as application in the Apple store so that they could be sold and users are able to download the materials they need easily.

Many publishers are embracing the ePublishing industry as well as companies which have emerged to develop tools and web sites to develop and sell electronic books. (Henke, 2001) In Asia, the electronic book industry is fueled by two industries: manufacturers who are developing hardware devices to read eBooks and content providers who are publishing specific formats. Some manufacturers are developing devices of book reader coupled with music player. More and more features are being added into devices that are used to read e-books with the purpose of enhancing the device with more functions. Whenever the demand is there, the supply will meet up the demand in order to satisfy customers. Besides that, e-book is now readable in PDA phones or even iphones. The format is standardized and it’s now getting more and more common, it is no longer an expensive and unreachable device. Besides that, the real success of e-books is not driven by technology but by value to the users. The larger demand of e-books will make the quality of e-books to be better such as better display resolution, longer lasting batteries and wireless updates; hence user will focus into device that could provide the most function, so it is the most value. (Henke, 2001)
